I'm confused about high step style. Most of the bands in my area are corps style. So is high stepping more of dancing then marching? Because in the video it seems like they hardly march at all, but dance a lot. It does look pretty fun though.

High Stepping refers to the style of marching. Corps style if more of a walking motion where the high stepping is more of a 45-90 degree march. The dancing part is only maybe a 1/4 of the show and is usually the last thing that the band does. Most high stepping bands do a opening drill, then go into a concert formation for a song for the dance line then one for the flag line then into your actual dance routine. This commercial mainly focused on dance part for entertainment.

To get a better feel of High Stepping band please feel free to check out bands like Norfolk St, Southern University, Bethune Cookman and Jackson State to get a better understanding of the high stepping style and format. Hope that helps.

Dude! I need to show this to my band director! Can bands that only have like 40 total in it join?

Yes. It is open to all size bands. Look up Asymmetrix Org for information on next year. It should be held in Atlanta again so you have time to get your money together for travel and registration fees.

With the capes and the hats that are heeee-uge, it looks ridiculous, but it looks like soooooooooooo much fun! This looks like old footage, though.

LOL, what are you talking about?
The footage itself is from 2007 to advertise for 2008.
