At 18 yrs old my 16 yr old brother & I owned four 1953 Buicks at the same time. A green, 2dr sedan Century with a 6 volt system,a straight 8 & manual trans. A black, 4 door "Special" with 6 volt system a straight 8 & manual trans. with a windshield visor. A navy blue 2 dr Hardtop Riviera with a V8, automatic, & 12 volt system & A two tone Fire engine red /white roofed "Super", rolled red/white & black leather interior V8 12 volt automatic "50th anniversary" model. Mom got mad & made us sell.
My grandfather had a '55 Buick Special that was white with red trim on the body. I faintly remember it but what I do remember is that it was a beautiful car.
My father owned a 53 Buick Sklark, just like the one in this video, same color, had the continental kit on the trunk, curb feelers on the front, One of his customers at his gas station in Orinda Ca, sold it to him for like $700 in the late 1950's, When he sold it, we were moving to a remote location with dirt roads, so he sold it in 1969 to a man who owned a bay area newspaper, Owen Owens ? for $1000 if I remember correctly. Boy , if we only knew! email me at rickmcintyre@frontiernet.

a beautiful classic automobile. Still looks great today, more than fifty years later.

Funny how the Skylark, which was the base for the GS350/400/455 in the late '60s-early '70s, started out as a special model.

Nope, they use plastic now!!

But the cost of repairing a scratched bumper on a 53 Skylark exceeds that of a totally damaged Yaris! los
