Demonstrates how the Yamaha D-85 mimics the sounds of the RMI Rocksichord or 368X type of electronic pianos from the early 1970s. Can get pretty close approximation of Dr. John's Right Place, Wrong Time kind of sound

  • a bit too much sustain...

  • @MARANTZamp --- cool ...

  • similar but not not that close...that's why I had to pick up a real RMI ELECTRA PIANO....

    You played it well though.

  • @MARANTZamp - - -cool. I used to own an RMI. What I like now is having all those sounds under one keyboard, even if not exactly bang on. Mostly about those colour palettes. Cheers though -- cool find ..any vids of your RMI ?

  • Was played on RMI electra piano ..have uploaded video of mine

  • Yes, the original Dr. John track was probably RMI, and I used to have a couple of those kicking around. These days I just like having one box that does all the analogue sounds I ever need. Cheers

  • you should make a tutorial

  • great

  • True enough. I had a couple of RMI keyboards. They were fun but limiting. What I like about the D-85 is that it covers those EMI sounds for me when I need them. I'd love to own and keep everything. Just not enough room (or money). Cheers

  • Coolio.
