This checkpoint has been there for 10+ years. Of course the smugglers and illegals know it is there.!

There are 4 of these checkpoints within 100 miles of where I live here in southern California. While spending my time out in the local mountains and deserts, I often come across these checkpoints but know of dirt roads that bypass some of them. I'm sure the smugglers know too. However, as a law-abiding citizen traveling down a public road minding my own business, I have no desire to speak with a total stranger standing on the side of the road. I'll answer as to my citizenship but that's it.

@daylightflute no its a check point. I pass thru one in Texas every weekend. They ask if your a citizen and if you are just say yes im a citizen. Anybody with mexican accents who look suspicious they will ask to park to side for more questions.

@daylightflute no dude this is 20 miles north of the actual border with Mexico,Mexicans established the presidio at Tubac in 1643 when they started coming thru the area with the Spanish missionaries on the way to settle California. Until the Gadsden Purchase in the later 1800's the actual Mexican border went north to the Gila River just about 35 miles south of modern day Phoenix Arizona.
