  • Didn't work for mine, my friend's or my daughter's. I think it's pre programmed to fail as all ours went around the same time. Can't record. No programme details. Load of rubbish.... don't buy one!

  • @datsunz Once the power supply is good these boxes are very good and run without problems.......the last box I fixed was very noisy......probably due to noise on the power supply affecting the fan or hard drive. It worked very quietly after the caps were changed. Worth blowing all the dust out from the fan and under the hard drive while its in bits.

  • A common problem on these boxes is the Caps failing on the power supply. It would be worth changing them now. Usually you can see the tops are swollen. There are 2 x 1000uf 16v caps that are the problem. If your box doesn't switch on (no lights) this is probably the cause. Be careful holding the powers supply pcb as some of the caps will still hold a charge....they bite!!

  • I've had this box for over 4 years and LOVED IT. For the money (<£100) it has no competition. Sure there were some teething problems at the beginning, but until now this HDD/BIOS issue was the only major problem.

I'm a satellite enthusiast and can only dream of the day when a twin tuner pvr with timeshift works this well for similar money.

PS: I have noticed that a New model with similar specification is to be released in time for DSO "Thomson THT115DTR" pity its still only SD

  • Thanks for the Help. (sw 7.04)

But it came rather late in my box repair (allready had the box in bits, with a spare hard drive still unresponsive). So using a plastic pen, I poked away at the PCB buttons though the slot in the front, in the fashion you desribed. Hey presto it woke the HDD up and all is back to normal. No need to retune or reformat.

Surely it would have been easier to have this info on the TUTV site, even if you had to register to get it ?

  • i have two red lights coming on my one it will not recourd and if i try to recourd anything it turns off ? dose it need a hard drive replacing or is it the power suply ? ir is it no good iv onley bought it 5 months ago is it still under garantt and dos eney one know the phone number in the uk please

  • FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! ANYONE WHO IS THINKING OF BUYING THIS GOD AWFUL PIECE OF SHIT, DONT! TUTV is shit. your better off getting a freeview box. trust me! you'll end up throwing your frozen, annoying, amber fucking light ridden box out of the window. your better off watching a cardboard box with a tv picture drawn on it. just goes to show when you need a stupid combination to switch the fucking thing back on. only for it to freeze again after a few hours. and their customer service is shit

  • Never waste your money on this shit, NEVER!

  • 2nd box crashed today. These boxes are completely crap. Don't touch with the proverbial barge pole.
