An average of 1,400 people have died every day in the Congo since 1998, due to civil war. Here, a malnourished orphan is cared for at a nutrition center run in conjunction with Medecins Sans Frontieres in Butsiri.
I recently came across a list of the Ten Worst Countries to be a Woman. It was a grim list of places where women have little opportunity or where they are actively discriminated against. The second worst country for women to live was the Democratic Republic of Congo. When I think about the different ways womens bodies become sites for social and political control, it is imposible to escape the topic of sexual violence. It is a really horrible topic, but sexual violence against women is the most brutal and oldest form of attack against womens bodies and psyches.

Now it appears that any one who calls himself "Christian" and is killing women and children are not in any way "following Christ's teaching" and therefore are not "Christians." Therefore your point that these atrocities are due to the Christian teaching is false.

That means any one who calls himself a Christian or a Muslim (since Muslims honor the teachings of Jesus as well) and doesnt follow the teaching of their Holy Book are really not true followers of God at all.

@moebott9 Leopold didn't set foot in the congo in his entire life, practices of maneating are a cultural thing that was around for many centuries and cutting of hands has been documented to be practised widely at the "slave forts" of the congo.
