My Granndad died last September. He loved listening to Nat King Cole and this particular song was played at his funeral.
I hope you enjoy watching.....

Lyrics:
And now the purple dusk of twilight time
Steals across the meadows of my heart
High up in the sky the little stars climb
Always reminding me that we're apart

You wander down the lane and far away
Leaving me a song that will not die
Love is now the stardust of yesterday
The music of the years gone by

Sometimes I wonder why I spend
The lonely night dreaming of a song
The melody haunts my reverie
And I am once again with you
When our love was new
And each kiss an inspiration
But that was long ago
Now my consolation
Is in the stardust of a song

Beside a garden wall
When stars are bright
You are in my arms
The nightingale tells his fairy tale
of paradise where roses grew
Though I dream in vain
In my heart it will remain
My stardust melody
The memory of love's refrain

  • Good for you.

If you want to be different, it's your right to. I was like yourself when I was your age. Everyone is unique and an individual.

  • This was beautiful. I have always loved this song and reading how this song was played for your grandfather, only reminded me of my grandfather, who died a year and a half ago. Lately I have been missing him so much - this song hit the spot. It was comforting and helped me connect with feelings and helped me release the tears that i've only been repressing. Thank you for this. ;)

  • Sorry to hear of your loss. I'm glad you found this video comforting. Its good to connect with feelings and to release tears, its all part of the healing process. Its been 1 year and 5 months since my Grandfather passed away. And even now, I still hurt and have days when I cry and wish he was still alive.

I wish you all the best.

    God-bless you.

    :)

  • i love this song by Nat King Cole. i keep on listening to it over and over.

  • MrListner43 thank you, I'll check 'Meditation' with Janine Jansen, kind of you to mention it. BTW Harpo Marx plays a truly remarkable rendition of 'Stardust' his technique is unique and with a small orchestral backing it is lovely to hear. Thanks again

  • @kimmr100 You have a very keen ear. Thank you for including the harp in your comments. If you enjoy listening to the harp, may I suggest Meditation by Massenet performed on violin by Janine Jansen. It was uploaded by edomariaricca. The video includes pictures of the harp being played .

  • It is hard to imagine that there could be a better vocal version than this.

  • the golden voice

  • A delightful rendition of Hoagy Carmichael's song by Nat King Cole with its wonderful musical accompanyment of strings, often played in counterpoint, and that subtle harp in the background. It doesn't get much better than this.
