  • Awesome, brings back memories. I worked in the IC shop for the air department. Recording flight ops, maintaining the FLOLS.

    He pronounced "Fresnel" wrong. ;)

  • Basard100, i have over an hour of raw vid/interview i shot in ILARTS, plus shots inside the deck cam room, a night demo of the meatball, etc. Might get around to editing it one day. about as CV geek as it gets, albeit outdated now.

i don't think there's only one way to pronounce fresnel. humans before dictionaries.

  • @2ndAsstJizzMopper Mr. Augustin-Jean Fresnel is rolling in his grave! Hehe, I joke man!

ILARTS! It's been so long I forgot what that system was even called. I forget what the "T" stands for though. Spent many of days on the ILARTS console and island cam. Many lonely nights in that dark room under the platform as well (can't remember what they called that watch either). If only all of our servicemen and women had it so easy.

  • TV, baby. "Integrated Launch And Recovery Television Surveillance System"

this video should help bring back some of the boredom:

  • Amazing video! Thank you so much for posting that. I love carrier ops. I will never be able to do that in my life time.

  • @2ndAsstJizzMopper Ahhhh, thats it, TV, thanks. :)

Nice, that totally brings back the boredom!

  • It was one of my first days on the island camera that I witnessed a malfunction of an F-14's nose gear during a bow launch.... the catapult hit the water break, huge cloud of white filled the camera, I looked up and saw the jet slide off of the front of the ship, one man ejected to the right, the other poor guy went right under the boat (only one survived, RIP).

Then the F-18s would launch from the bow, and the jet blast shoots right up the JBD and into your face, but you must keep recording!!

  • thank you for the video

  • Nice video for those who want to know more about LSO's ops - wonder what grade he got?... fair-4, or ok-4?

  • cool I like it!
