Great stuff. Too bad his throws does,nt translate as well to MMA.
However i am sure if Fedor showed up in a bathrobe he would have been thrown all over the place.

I've been doing BJJ for almost four years. I have gained a newfound respect for Judo recently. It's good stuff. I wish the tournaments would allow for more newaza though. I guess I'll have to save my money and fly to Japan if I want to compete, lol.

@Yurie1337 I agree 100%. I love MMA. Those fighters are on a level I will never attain even if I try forever. With that said, MMA is o supposed to be something that resembles street fights. That was the idea back in the day. I never got into many fights because I knew better than taking a butt whooping, I KNOW that I never got into a fight with someone wearing trunks and no shirt. I also never got in a fight with someone wearing a bathrobe and pants. But that's cloer to the real thing.

scoring is acurate, in europe they would have given an ippon and the newaza would be very limited.

Ya, you're totally right, except the art I train in involves the use of swords and shields. I guess I should be allowed to use the garb from my art...

I disagree, fighters should be alowed to wear gi's, just like they could in Pride (Hidehiko Yoshida), its mixed martial arts, and i think that should include the traditional wears of that art.
Ofcourse im not saying that your opponent has to do so aswell ;) still a few tricks that you can pull of with your own gi on the opponent.
In any case, should be the fighters choise imo.

They both have white judogi because nobody wears blue Judogi in Japanese competitions.
