Yes is the 1st band that comes to mind when I hear someone talking about progressive rock. They paved the way for many bands.

This stuff from Relayer is some of the craziest, most adventurous material ever created in the history of rock. I doubt we'll ever hear anything like this again in today's dumbed down musical world. Sadly, Yes in the 1970s was a one-time event in the history of music.

Without a doubt the keyboard solo by Mr.Moraz is the top 5 key solos of all time! Just unhinged brilliance. Bold sound, jazz rock at it's best and truly progressive. All keyboardists should study this and anything Wakeman has ever done and be better for it!! Top five masterpieces in Prog Rock, 5.

@quirkasaurus I agree. Even more interesting the fact Relayer being a keyboard player's dream album. Let's just say his playing style fitted perfectly for the sound the band wanted in this project, which is also a huge compliment.

yes.....sound chaser.....live.....does not-cannot-get any better than this!

@Chriskkboongg -- interesting comment -- because moraz's "solo" efforts are pretty mainstream-ish. his keyboard solos are creative therein. but in 'Relayer', i believe he was playing following the direction of jon anderson; and doing a fantastic job doing so. that wakeman guy was pretty good too -- check the organ solo in 'CttE'.

I love the weird piccolo right before the first fast riff..

CHA CHA CHA ... CHA CHA Sheer controlled beautiful maddening insane bliss!
I'll never forget listening to Relayer for the first time back when music used to mean something. These days creativity as this is nearly nonexistent. What a mind blowing experience. Somewhere in that music is the unspoken answer to the riddle of the Universe. Bravo! And guess what? I'm not being pretentious.
Man... the live energy... the lack of produced "perfection"... Wish I had been alive...

WHAT A FCKN MASTERPIECE! .If you don't comprehendf YES then I feel for you. You missed the greatest musically satisfying experience of our time. Even agmonst the YES and Prog world, RELAYER is too underappreciated. This is YES at their peak before the slow crash of the 80's. But they made the best innovative and most original music of my lifetime during their heydey. CHA CHACHACHA CHA
