This is my new Canon HG21. Films so amazing and smooth!
I had problems, editing this file first. I tried to fix this problem every day after school, for 4 days! But then suddenly I could edit them in my Sony Vegas Pro 8. I just reinstalled the program and got some plugins. Don't know wich plugins, but it works.

The HV30 is a very nice camera, if you want to use tape. People still prefer it because tape is so much easier to work with than AVHDC, but it all depends on what software your using to edit the footage. I too am looking into the HG21, it looks like a very nice camcorder. I was wondering how the manual focus works on the camera? have you tried it yet? what are you using to edit your videos? great post man, keep up the good work.

Manual focus!? I did'nt knew my camera had that. I hoped that it had, but I only think that the Sony SR-11 got that. But the auto focus also works amazing. If you have any link of a site, where you can read about the manual focus on HG21, then it would be cool. And for my editing I'm using Sony Vegas Pro 8 (just a crack, I could tell you about if you will write me a personal message) and it works really good. Except that it lacks because the files is pretty big.

how does the camera respond to fast movement? does the hard drive ever shut down?

Never. If you have a harddisk cam doing that, there's something wrong. Aree yu sure that it's not just the auto shot down, when you din't use the cam?

well i dont own it yet. i'm still debating whether to get the hg21 or the hf11 which are both the same camera but one is flash based and the other hard drive based. i keep hearing the the hg21 is susceptible to sudden movement or even loud music and that sudden movements might cause the hard drive to shut down as a safety feature. have you noticed any of that? shaking the camera while recording, and not just your average hand shaking but like harsh movements.
