This is when Jack was a villain. After he is stabbed on the pier, Kayla helps him and they talk about their marriage.

  • I love both Jack and Steve's redemptions. The show really took the time to do it right, and gave us a couple of great love stories to go along with them. We saw them both struggle to be better people, and battle feelings of unworthiness along the way. It was great soap.

  • @ahogenson That is very, very true. Both redemptions were outstanding because they didn't happen overnight. It took both Steve and Jack quite some time to turn the corner from bad guy into heroic character. The only problem I had with Jack's redemption was that after he turned the corner from being a villain the writers decided to turn him into a comedic character and that to me wasn't the right thing to do. That's why I never truly liked Jack and Jen. They were always too comedic for my taste.

  • I would never say that Kayla deserves what happened to her, b/c that would be insane, but I do wish that she (& Steve) would own up to their parts in Jack's destruction. I mean, he should have NEVER went there, but I really don't like how they kept brushing aside his feelings while they were falling in love & how their betrayal ultimately lead to Jack doing this heinous thing (of which he is totally responsible for, his reaction was over-the-top; he should have exacted his revenge another way).

  • @bacardilvr I loved how, at his core, he still remained "Jack". They just brought out different sides of his character, instead him being a whole new person. Ending up making him one of the most compelling characters on Days ever. He was human. His pairing with Jennifer made her far more interesting as well.

  • @ahogenson That is so true. Back at this time Days knew how to write true redemptions. Unfortunately today they write quick "redemptions" that are so phony that it's ridiculous.

  • I love this whole storyline. The feelings of Jack, Steve, and Kayla were shown beautifully and each of their points of view were very understandable.

It was also well acted by Stephen, Matt, and Mary Beth.

  • As I commented on Steve's transformation, Jack's transformation was slow and it meant more to the audience. This is when soap writers believed in DYNAMIC characters. Certain characters are not supposed to change, but some characters; their entire purpose is to show how a character can change. For the better... or for the worse.. such is life.
