From STATter911.com http://www.STATter911.com: A small plane with an emergency parachute crashed Sunday afternoon (3/15/09) after taking off from the airport in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The first 911 caller can't quite figure out why there is a parachute. The aircraft is a Cirrus G-3. Audio from Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service. Greatest stupid Cirrus crash of all time!

Ahh what a shame. The knowledge of that poor woman about planes. First the plane being big, then the BRS Parachute. It seems like the main fuselage held intact though so the parachute worked in it's mission to not kill anyone.

All Cirrus aircraft have the CAPS parachute system.

The plane is not a "G3." It's a Cirrus, SR-22.

parachute and inflationed boats should be put on all planes due to they stop in the air and fall out of shy in to the ground and in the water it would save lives think about.

haha, "some one was parachuting behind a plane", that's what would think if i saw a plane with a parachute :) So parachute doesn't prevent damage completely, still impact was strong enough to break the tail off... it's practically destroyed, so no one would pull CAPS out unless they are absolutely sure they're going to crash.
