NOTE: Adolphe Deprince was one of the finest accordion virtuoses of the I-st half of XXth century. His accordion orchestra was enormously popular among French and international lovers of java - or musette music. Besides typical Parisian tunes, he also recorded innumerable tangos, foxtrotts etc. for the French labels (Columbia, Pathé, Princesse). In the slideshow, among lovely old photographs of Paris are also some drawings by one of the finest Czech artistis of the XX century, Tavik Frantisek Simon (1877-1942).

I think the singer is Pierre Daragon, who recorded some songs with Adolphe Deprince in mid30's.

Carlos Gardel recorded a few tangos in

French. Don't forget his mother was french, and some say Carlos Gardel was

born in Toulouse, but came to South America as a toddler.
