Little Moments Chapt. 27

I went into the bathroom and found Chris washing his hands. There was one guy in there. He left when I walked in.

-OK dude what was that? Pretending like you don't know my daughter?
Chris: Look Mr. Efron, Quinn's a great girl. But she's not a part of the popular group. And because of who she is and because of who I am....*trails off*
-Get to the point.
Chris: *sighs* We can't be seen together.

My jaw tightened.

-Well then guess what? You can't be seen together then you can't see my daughter at all.
Chris: I think you should let Quinn decide that.
-No. She's my daughter and I just decided you're never going to see her again.

I left and went home. I found Amber sitting on the couch.

-Where's Quinn?
Amber: She came home like five minutes ago, ran up to her room crying and slammed the door shut. She won't talk to me. What happened?
-Chris pretended he didn't know her. She was so humiliated. Then he told me that they can't be seen together because it could ruin his reputation.
Amber: I'll kill him.

I couldn't help but chuckle. I kissed her head.

-You are my daughter.

She smiled. I ruffled her hair and went upstairs to Quinn's room. I opened the door and found her laying on her bed, tears running down her face. I went over to her bed and sat down in front of her.

-Hey Quinny Quinn.
Quinn: Go away.
-I can't. I'm your dad.
Quinn: *sniffles* I've never been more humiliated in my life.
-Well don't worry. I talked to him. He's not going to see you anymore.
Quinn: You talked to him? *sits up*
-Yeah.
Quinn: Why did you do that?
-Because you ran off crying because he pretended not to know you. Quinn he said that you two can't be seen together.
Quinn: I know. That was our deal!

My eyes widened.

-What?
Quinn: If the popular girls knew we were dating they'd be even worse to me. So at school we'd stay out of each other's way and pretend not to know each other.
-Quinn that's so stupid. Why would you want to date a guy that wants to keep your relationship a secret?
Quinn: He likes me. He was just trying to protect me.
-Protect you? Quinn you're a really smart girl. How can you believe that?
Quinn: Because it's the truth. I'm gonna date Chris.
-Well he doesn't want to be seen with you and he's not coming here. How are you gonna see each other?
Quinn: I don't know. Just leave me alone.
-Quinn-
Quinn: Dad. Please. Just leave me alone.

I sighed and kissed her head and left.

Quinn's P.O.V:
All weekend I tried calling, texting and e-mailing Chris. He didn't respond. I barely talked to my dad or Amber. I stayed up in my room. Mom called twice, but I barely talked to her. On Monday it was even worse. Everyone thought I was a freak and Chris just stood there while the popular girls made fun of me. I don't know what I ever saw in him.
