Danny C. of K.C., performance samples; and Dan with Doc F. on one excerpt from mid-90's. This collage shows some performing style with lively crowds. You see the, trademark, guitar with low end string self-accompaniment, a well-known strength in Danny's musical expression technique - which he purposely sought out to develope and perfect from his earliest performing years - put to action here. You also get samples of strong vocal performances. The one original song sample, from a song writer's night performance, was a spoof satire of which the reasons behind it are a bit hard to explain. As a result, this "g-rated feel" excerpt, was opted for rather than an earlier version which was at one time posted, which shall stay in the underground files - at least for now. However - since the main purpose had been to combine something with as much shock value as much of then-popular music; throw in some humor and wit; and through use of the attention-getting aspects, at places with changing types of audiences, pull them in to hearing a kind of music they should and often do appreciate anyway, when exposed to it (that sophisticated-swing-progressions-played-by-one-rhythm-guitarist thing); - therefore, use of the clip presented in this form serves the original purpose behind the tune. On the Fightin' Side Of Me clip, it's a fact worth noting that the mother's side of Danny's family are related to Merle Haggard. Mr. Haggard is the 2nd cousin of Danny's Late Grandfather, Troy Chafin. The excerpt is from Thanksgiving Day '04, in the Plaza of K.C. In the spoof song, the chord changes are a good example of Danny's background in one-man swing type progressions (pieces challenging for one rhythm player or solo act). The guitar was borrowed from Tom Hall as Danny's had a problem before going on. Considering that the guitar wasn't as familiar to Danny, it didn't come off too badly. The excerpt was sandwiched in amongst dozens of performances on a 30 minute VHS-C tape in it's original form. The clip showing the progression at pal G. Echohawk's place, on Danny's own guitar, gives a bit better idea of how it is supposed to be played, though Danny was a bit tired & had a couple of brews, rare for him, before playing in that sample. The highly sophisticated swing is both from Danny's own experimentaion with chords & notes, & the influence of mentors like The Late Local Ragtime Great, Andy Jenkins; as well as K.C. blues/jazz players like Ronny Anderson.
