It's intriguing how some Americans can, from their personal insecurities, justify the use of force to marginalize minorities and individuals whom they view as inferiors or "untermenschen". While this fellow may come across a bit odd, why not allow him the 180 seconds? It would have saved the city's taxpayers the $10,000 it cost them to settle out of court in this instance.
What could the man possibly have to say that was bad enough to warrant this kind of action? What would be "wrong" about allowing him to get it off his chest?
