GoldenSpike was invited to attend the 3rd US Model Convention in Rodgau Nieder-roden, a small suburb to Frankfurt am Main in Germany.
The convention is organized by Mr. Horst Meier and is held every 2nd year. This year the event took place in weekend of the 15th of October and 16th of October.
There was quite a high attendance for the convention, when you consider that only US Model railroad is shown.
If you want to know more, please look on the webpage.

GoldenSpike participated with our exhibition layout including our newly finished engine yard of 6meters/19.8' long. This was truly an impressive structure which both can be used for
Early Diesel engines as well as the very modern engines.
I have made 5 videos, mostly of our layout, and 1 video of the engine yard.
The material range from Steam engines to the latest EMD diesel engines.
I hope that you will find these videos entertaining and should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
You can also see pictures that various club-members took during the convention on the following webpage.

  • Awesome video! I liked the sound effects!

  • @aocruiser Thanks. When yo atend a exhibition like this, you need to have sound in most your engines and some sound on the layout. We had a sound loop runnng under the engineyard, just to add something extra.

  • I am still amazed as to how well you have modeled US railroad action. I see that you do like the western part of America. Nothing like where I live in New York State in the Hudson Valley area. Great work to you and the club members!!

  • @TheEriefan Thanks. Yes the layout is based on a western theme, back in 2007, it was decided that this theme most properly was the easiest to build and had the fewest challanges having in mind that it will be used for events lke this. Some of us are thinking of expanding it wtih two more modules, which will be much more of a mid western theme, like Texas. Personally I would like to make someting from the SouthEastern states, but that wll properly only come if I have a layout of my own.

  • like always a fantastic video keep them coming :-)

  • @MyLocomotiv Thanks. I will. I have 4 more videos from this event.
