This is how to breed and care for guppies/fry. If you have any questions just ask. This also works with other freshwater live-bearers like mollies, swordtails and platies, but you don't need two females for every male like the guppies. Shot with my Toshiba X100 video camera.

  • im hoping to start breeding guppies, i was looking for a 10 - 20 gallon tank. What size is your tank?

  • @everythingABATE The one in the video is a 15 gallon.

  • @Happyjakk just got a 10 gallon tank, the guys at the fish store said after i set up the tank i should put in platys before the guppies to make sure everything in the tank is ok. Did you do this?

  • @everythingABATE I don't, but you could if you want. Just get your water checked before putting fish in. Petco and Petsmart do this for free. Platies are cheap and compatible with guppies so you could if you want.

  • i got another pregnant one and abby one my other fish had 5 bbys does it need more bbys

  • @kevin139062 Certain births will be smaller or bigger in number than others, so you shouldn't worry about it.

  • happyjack i have like a 3.5 gallon fish tank with a filter plastic plants and 3 guppies a pregnant one and 2 males i bought the pregnant one pregnant and i have it like for15 days and could i breed them in a 3.5 gallon fishtank reply back at username at kevin139062 add me please u know a lot about guppies

  • @mahlanirose123 about 30 days.

  • @mahlanirose123 Guppies usually have a gestation period around a month, depending on the water temperature. The higher the temperature, the shorter the gestation period, but this could make the fry's life span shorter.

  • @MrBrainyguy123 I wouldn't recommend a bowl because fish need good water and filtration, especially during the birthing process because the fry might not survive. Also fish need good conditions to try to breed or they might not try. If you have plants and other places for the fry to hide, they should be able to hide from the other fish.
