Good shot! Maybe some of these people hunt, but they never kill anything which explains y they don't know how it looks or sounds! Looked like a kill shot to me. I think it hit further back than you say, but definitely a killer. I've seen arrows from a 70lb draw weight bow pass clean through both shoulders of a black bear. I really get tired of people who never hunt providing their "expert" opinions. They need to grab a weapon and sit in a tree stand/blind for 5 hours.
