LBK Amputee Ty Wilson shows how he does a detailed cleaning of his prosthesis. This is the type of cleaning that is recommended after submerging or getting your prosthetic device in salt or brackish water.

Most prosthetist do not recommend that you get your prosthesis wet. If possible you should use an old or backup prosthesis for engaging in activities where it may become dirty and wet. This video gives an alternative to those that may not have the luxury of a back-up leg.

WARNING - This video is published for education and entertainment purposes. These cleaning methods are used and created exclusively by Ty Wilson and are not endorsed or recommended by any group or organization. These methods are not guaranteed to be applicable to you or your situation. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Please seek the advice of a prosthetist before using your prosthetic device in an unconventional way.

  • Thanks for showing your support for Amp 1 Basketball. Love it.

  • Wow, you're really Mr. Clean. I admire you. I hardly ever thought about cleaning out my prosthesis - and that was obviously wrong - because I smelled! (I was oblivious to it, but finally some did approach me - at work, of all places. ) I was embarrassed, humiliated, etc. and I tried to do a better of job cleaning every night. In the end though, I just quit wearing it. (For that and many other reasons). I'm much happier now, using crutches or a wheelchair. But more power to you!!
