Freecom claimed that their 160 GB USB ToughDrive can stand extreme shocks and still work flawlessly, so we tried some of its strengths - freefall from 1.5 meters and driving an ATV on it...

Yup, that's right - it works even after the test, and moreover - it has very nice features like hardware password disk encryption and TurboUSB driver. Encrypting doesn't take any CPU time and it doesn't slow down the transfer, while the TurboUSB driver makes those ~27 MB/s more like ~38, kind of surpise to see such performance boost while changing only the driver.

  • why do you need to wear shin pads while dropping it?

  • @MrWillevans The guy riding the ATV was the current Freecom representative in Bulgaria at the time.

  • Yeah but try twsiting the USB input and it goes to shit!

  • @Hepa101 we still use the body for some 2.5" HDD in our office...
