The sad thing is, people accept propaganda willingly because they want to believe it's true. There's a form of cognitive bias called the just-world fallacy. It makes people feel safer when they think the world delivers fair rewards to the deserving and suffering to the undeserving. That's why people blame the most vulnerable for bringing on their own torment, and anything that can't be rationalised is simply ignored. The media encourages people to keep playing let's pretend.
