Canada has recognized Macedonia under its constitutional name, Republic of Macedonia (Republika Makedonija), the name rejected by neighbor Greece for the past 16 years. Furthermore, Canada strongly supports Macedonia's path to NATO.
Greece, an EU and NATO member, has indicated it might block Macedonia's bid for membership of these organizations if it tries to join under the disputed name.
The United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD) congratulated all Canadian-Macedonians on this momentous occasion -- their dedication, perseverance, and endless efforts contributed towards this positive change of Canadian policy. Ethnic Macedonians started immigrating to Canada over a century ago and have helped build Canadian society in all spheres of life - social, economic, and political. Today, around 200,000 ethnic Macedonians live in Canada.
In addition, United Macedonian Diaspora said it would like to use this opportunity to thank Macedonia's Ambassador to Canada, Dr. Sashko Nasev for his continuous and tireless hard work to educate Canadian policymakers. Canada and Macedonia are working together to rebuild Afghanistan. Furthermore, Canada strongly supports Macedonia's path to NATO.

  • Mario history was changed 2500 years ago upon the fall of the Macedonian empire when greeks conqured Macedonia after its fall it was re-written all the way back then. Greek letters were used back then as it was the common or koine language of business people an scholars who were from Athens. We are Slavs thats correct an the history of slavs is still something whch is argued about still today.

  • @makdeonijatom

Politics and diplomacy, and less history. That's why so many countries recognize FYROM as Makedonia..

But history is written and nobody changes the ancient books of ancient writers..and nobogy changes the marbles with the Greek letters in Pella..

There will be always there to remind you,how much Slavs you are there in Skopjia

  • SMYRNA why would i call myself Macedonia if im bulgarian or greek? if canadians are stupid then 130 other countries must be stupid to then. Wake up to your own lies

  • @makdeonijatom >> Krste Misirkov, 1903, "our fathers and grandfathers and great-grandfathers have always been called Bulgarians"

ISMAIL KEMAL 1901-2, "Greeks do not want to violate the rights of the other nations, their attitude is just defensive. But the Bulgarian element is inspired by other intentions. It wants to be expanded in order to harm the Greek element in every means." ""Greeks just want to be protected from every violation of their historical and ethnological rights."

  • All this video proves is canadians are as STUPID!!! as the Yanks say they are.Macedonia is a Greek word and any non-Greek using the word to name themselves after is a THIEF!!! Read History. The slavs are NOT!!! descendants of the Ancient Macedonians. The Greeks are, The slavs invaded Macedonia 1000 years after Alexander the Great
