The spirit of Assisi and invalid Liturgy
In the film Ut unum sint, the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity publishes the official position of the Vatican on the Assisi peace prayers with the words: "During this meeting they (pagans) prayed separately but in the same spirit." The truth is that they also prayed together -- even with the Pope. They prayed in the same spirit, but it was not the Spirit of Christ. It was the spirit of antichrist.
ohn Paul II closed these so-called peace prayers with the Our Father. He thus put paganism and the worship of demons on an equal footing with the worship of the only true God. In Assisi, pagans not only prayed but also burnt incense and made other offerings to demons. Early Christians and thousands of missionaries of Christ preferred to die martyrs rather than to show reverence for pagan idols and demons with a single grain of incense. The Word of God says: "What pagans sacrifice they offer to demons and not to God." (1Cor 10:20) These offerings of theirs are in sharp contrast with the sacrifice of Jesus Christ offered up on the cross for our sins. Those who accept the spirit of Assisi negate this radical difference between the false faith of pagans and the saving faith in Christ.
When the words of consecration are pronounced and in the epiclesis during the Liturgy the bread and wine are changed into the Body and Blood of Christ. Through a priest who received valid Holy Orders and has the saving faith this transubstantiation in the Liturgy is brought about by the Holy Spirit. The saving faith receives Jesus as the only Saviour who died on the cross for our sins and, being God, rose from the dead. The gesture of Assisi denies the saving faith; it means that it denies the uniqueness of Christ's sacrifice for the remission of sins.
If a priest sins gravely regarding morals, the Holy Spirit does work through his priesthood but this priest does not benefit by it. It is true about him that he "eats and drinks judgment on himself". This is the cause of various illnesses (see 1Cor 11:29-30). However, if a priest is in unity with the spirit of Assisi and refuses to publicly dissociate himself from it, he becomes an apostate. And the Holy Spirit cannot work through an apostate. The sacraments presuppose the saving faith and the Holy Spirit works through them. They are no pagan magic. Concerning Liturgy celebrated by an apostate, one cannot apply the scholastic rule ecclesia supplet or ex opere operato. The Liturgy officiated by an apostate is always invalid. It is a mere performance and a mockery of Christ and of the Church. It is not a source of a blessing for the believers but of a curse.
What is the fruit of Assisi? The Catholic believers are so much confused that they are no longer able to distinguish the false worship of and prayers to demons from the true worship of and prayers to Christ. This loss of the saving faith and loss of discernment is the fruit of the spirit of Assisi -- the spirit of antichrist. Therefore, every priest must dissociate himself from the spirit of Assisi and must no longer mention the name of the apostate Benedict in the Liturgy.
