Maury Povich hosted this hour long show on KYW TV from 1981 to 1983. Please excuse the poor quality and audio dropouts. Ever see a "cartoon balloon" wipe pattern before?
First, all of the Westinghouse-owned stations used "People Are Talking" as the title of their local daytime talk show. Oprah Winfrey (Baltimore) and Tom Beregeon (Boston) may be the best-known former hosts to break out from this format.
Second, Maury left his native Washington, D.C. and WTTG's "Panorama" to host this during his brief stint in Philly. When it was over, he went back to D.C. and stayed until he moved to New York for the launch of "A Current Affair" in 1986.
Wow, he just stumbles all over himself doesn't he.
