...what the relationship between body and mind is and running and meditation...can you meditate while you are running? Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche discusses mind and body synchronization in the context of running, sports, meditation and breathing. He responds to questions about the relationship between mind and body. He remarks that "in the West sometimes the body and mind have been split up". He says "basically you should be able to practice meditation anywhere." and talks about how to apply that while running.

  • You can get the text of the talk by: Beneath the video box, on the bottom right, just to the left of the “views” number, there is a small Interactive Transcript icon (somewhat like a page with lines). Click the icon to open a pane. You can select this and copy it into a word processor. This doesn’t work on YouTube Channels' main pages, it only works if you go to the videos’ other links. Like the one underneath the video on the channel's main page. This is true for most of this site's videos.

  • Thank You so much for the video and Good Luck on your marathon. : )

  • I enjoy running also. It used to give me a profound feeling of peace. I can't do it right now for medical reasons, but hopefully that will change. How was your marathon?

  • Great Tips! Alot better than I've read other places, where they said to " Think of how many miles you have left " which is a bad idea! Thanks I Favorited this video and hope to watch it again sometime later, before my next race.

  • The application of mediative states to physical movement is not so much the problem, it seems to me, as maintaining a connection with consciouss awareness when the mind is being used. I find that the application of will, intellect, mental effort or intellectual problem solving obliterate the mind's capacity to recognize its essential nature, or to rest in itself, or to be transformed by its own intrinsic energy. Just wondering what thoughts you might have on this. Daniel

  • Very helpful--there should be a small text made available.

  • Fantastic! Gave me soo much so see this video! God bless you!!

  • I absolutely "get" what he is saying.....and the funniest thing happens....I am FASTER when I run mindfully...I use ChiRunning technique...relaxing and letting the Chi flow...yes....

  • thanks.
