Of course I know that's a big generalization, but it stems from a real place and is not intended as an insult, rather as concern and frustration. Schools vary here just like anywhere but I can say at my school at least, we were taught a considerable amount about the US (I guess because of it's size and influence).

I certainly can't say the same of Russia. I understand you bring up TV, I'd hate for Australia to be judged solely on "Neighbours", but I'm not that silly.

@Cataclysm31 Most of the people in our country go through the government run education system. They don't learn much about America, or anything else really, either. But besides that point, that's a huge generalization and I'm sure it applies to almost any population. How much did you learn about America in your classes? I'm sure you learn a lot more about Commonwealth countries from your education than you know about Russia or the USA. How much did you learn about us from movies, TV, etc?

It's not anti-Americanism.

It's frustration with the FACT that due to the state of your education system your people comparatively know less about the outside world & cultures of other countries that anyone else in the western world.

The States is an awesome place, but like anywhere it has issues, and that's one of them.
