人は誰しも　つらいことから逃げたがるもの

人は誰しも　現実よりも夢を見続けたいもの

越えるべき壁　向き合う現実から目をそらし続けた先に　手に入れるものは　いったい何なのか

そして失ったものは・・・

逃げることは罪じゃない　でも現実は夢のように甘くなかった・・・

Maybe the last line of the onscreen text could be translated a bit more literally:

[But please don't hope for anything.]

Because surely it is no use, as you closed your eyes and ears.

I love this poem. It is so profound. "Running away is not a sin. But when you close your eyes to the reality right in front of you, what on earth have you gained? And what have you lost?"

"They go through life wearing a mask..." - I misheard that sentence, and so I wanted to take another stab.

"When you run into a wall, you should climb over it, but when you close your eyes to the reality right in front of you, what on earth have you gained?"

I'll try to translate this for any English-speakers and probably fail. Ready?:

"Everyone wants to run away from upsetting things. Everyone wants to continue dreaming rather than facing reality. They go through life with a mask, but when you turn your back and close your eyes to reality, what on earth have you gained? And what have you lost?"

This is the second part after the introduction of the chapter:

"Running away isn't a crime. But reality wasn't as kind (sweet) as a dream would be."
