My wife's Thule Hullavator (HumblePower ~$480) is the only way she can get her 18ft kayak onto our Tahoe. Sure it's alot of money, but the Thule Hullavator is the difference between getting in the water or waiting for a volunteer at the boat launch.

I just use foam blocks which cost ten bucks, unless you have a really heavy kayak or are very short, this seems like an expensive and involved piece of kit.

I just got one..fabulous. Just a word of caution..leave the front J racks as is..they are in that positon for a reason..leverage. I had moved my up and then the boat would not pop off the roof without much effort. Love it.

I am 4'10" tall and 61 years old, so I HAD to have something to help me load. This works perfectly and gives me freedom to go whenever I want, without having to find someone to help get the kayak on and off the car.
