MPX modifies the X server to provide multiple cursors and keyboard foci. See http://wearables.unisa.edu.au/mpx/. You can use applications with multiple mice and type into multiple apps at the same time. All the apps are standard apps as provided on a Ubuntu linux desktop.

  • The point is not to support multiple mice but multiple ponters, which is required for multi-touch displays... that way you can operate the desktop with all ten fingers. Imagine a live-DJ mixing app with that...

  • The X server is platform independent.

There is no such thing as "only for Ubuntu".

  • oh yes 2 wacom tablets for ambi drawing XD

  • @grogtgs Another scenario:Two mice each connected to its own screen pointer, no physical keyboard, a portrait monitor with a virtual keyboard and other icons at the bottom of the screen. This way you can use the two mice to do your typing, text processing, desktop publishing, windows manipulation, surfing. etc, more efficiently than if you use a single mouse and a keyboard. Plus if you add some basic speech commands, like: COPY, PASTE, MOVE, SAVE, DELETE, etc, you will do so ultra fast...

  • this is great ;)

  • In case you want to run a virtual os on top of it, without locking up your only pointer and keyboard.

  • Because you could have two hands in a game. Hack and slash for real :)

  • I NEED IT AND I NEED IT NOW

  • Because two or more users use the same machine at same time on multiple screens.

  • Why would anyone need/want two keyboards or mice? I don't get it.

  • Then use two keyboards

  • Ok, so now I've updated to xorg-server 1.7.

Now what? Where's the Window Manager?
