A Winters Day on the Lough 2010

The Lough in Cork City hasn't been this frozen since the 80's. I had to take the opportunity, like so many others to get out on the ice. It's really quite stunning and quite the rare occurence too.

well the council have broken the ice along the edges so no more walking on it. That said, it was such a perfect morning I had to try. Stupid maybe but it was a once in a generation opportunity. Plus I didn't' stray very far from the edge. No regrets like :)

It wasn't me I swear - although to be honest I'm not surprised. There was a lot more people around the place this evening when that happened and the ice would have been at its meltiest. Still glad I got to have a go out there :)
