San Francisco's famous camp-rock band ENRIQUE premiered their new groovy hippy-dippy-trippy look at the Gay Pride parade in 1996 for radio station LIVE 105's "float," shown for about a minute on the KOFY-TV live broadcast of the event. You can hear a short bit of their 9-minute "Sunshine Medley" once host (and KOFY owner) Jim Gabbert shuts up.
The elaborate props decorating the flatbed truck were designed and constructed by Kate Fenker with Jason Mecier, who, alongside musical conceptionist/choreographer D'Arcy Drollinger, are the photogenic trio fronting the band. The musicians are: Tim Perdue (bass), John Conway (keyboard), Peter Fogel (guitar), and Christian Matthews (me)(drums).
It was deathly hot that day, and we all risked serious heat-stroke for real as the hours wore on and we sweated and sweated, playing the "Sunshine Medley" over and over down the entire parade route. You can maybe see Richard Neveu walking beside the float--he followed along the whole time, throwing badly-needed bottles of water to the band!
