Even though 爱人 is an older term more frequently used by my parents' generation (people in their 60s), I still think it is a beautiful word that carries deeper meaning than 老公and 老婆.

@allgoo19 ... probably the same thing the Japanese did... chinese have simplified and traditional ways of writing. So, the same character can look different depending on the system they choose. Japanese versions of the chinese characters are usually traditional. 愛 is traditional, and how the japanese write it.
