The Error Loading Operating System message has returned. I proceeded with the fixmbr and fixboot with the Windows Recovery Cd to repair. These two items worked, to a point. Windows XP would load, I would select a user, and it looked like everything was fixed, BUT with less than a minute being up I get the BSOD -- Blue Screen of Death.

What can I do? While Windows boots up and before the BSOD comes up I get no reaction from the computer when I click any of the desktop icons, when I place the mouse over START it immediately goes to an hourglass figure, so I don't know how to proceed from here since I can't get to Control Panel to get to a system restore.

Please help!

When I turned off the computer and turned the power back on, it would give me the Error loading operating system message again. When I repeated the fixmbr and fixboot steps and it went to BSOD, I let it count the dumping physical memory. It stops at 73 or 74 and then attempts to reboot on its own and gets the error loading operating system.

I also tried copying the NTLDR and NTDETECT files earlier in the day, although that did not seem to work.
The BSOD message read as follows:

a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
if this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. if this screen appears again, follow these stepsL
check to be sure you have adequate disk space. if a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters.
check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disables BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select advancedstartup options, and then select safe mode.

  • Tbh icwould not be supprised if it was a ram fault with all the stuff u got.

    Id do a fresh start.

Wipe the slate clean. Format the hard drive.

Of problem consists, check your hard ware.

  • Omg how many icons!!!!

  • How about you delete all those fucking icons.

  • Try an anti-virus check. If that doesn't work, back all your data up and re-install your operating system.

  • so many icons..dizzy..why r u downloading so much of this for?

  • Dude delete as many of those files off your desktop I had the same thing and if you have any major modifications or client hacks in your games then delete those

  • Get a Mac

  • I got blue screen and like 21 key loggers on my computer

  • Its usually software u just downloaded that cause bluescreen, try a system recovery or go into safemode and delete some software u recently have downloaded

  • @01tommrazek And as I can see, delete icons or reinstall (since you cant delete icons) You can actually get a bluescreen if youre overiconed. But I am quite sure that is not the case.
