this is the mackinaw bridge with 50 mph winds. watch the long cables near the tower. both before and after and you can see the sway in the cables as they nearly wrap themselves around each other.

  • this is a great video.. your welcome to those that appreciate it for what its worth.. to the haters.. ha :)

  • The partial closure mode is put into operation when wind speed averages 50 mph. Only passenger cars and pick-ups are allowed to crass during partial closure mode. We close the bridge to all traffic when wind speed averages 65 mph. "

now please go bother someone else with your crappy attitude and wanna be know it all attitude. i cant stand ass clowns. get off my page stupid.

  • hey ya know i think your a jack ass that pops off at the mouth for no reason.. i dont know why you feel the need to talk shit about my posts but id appreciate it if you STFU thanks... this is form the bridge authority.. " We begin the escort mode when wind speed averages 35 mph. During wind escort mode, all high profile vehicles such as box trucks, motor homes, and vehicles pulling trailers are escorted across the bridge in groups by Mackinac Bridge Authority vehicles.

  • Sorry buddy, but if the wind was REALLY blowing at 50mph, they would never let you on the Mackinaw Bridge.....

They routinely close it during High Wind events !!!!

  • @mailforward4me duh dumbass.. they close it at 60 mph asshat

  • Remarkable video.

  • dat is scary

  • The LAST thing I'd want under those conditions would be to hit a patch of ice. Bridges freeze before roads do.

  • i might go on that bridge this week on vacation and 6 blocks from the bridge

  • I didn't see anything moving. Can someone tell me where it is when the cables start to move,

  • @rfra3645 Anybody from Michigan will not understand you! Good post.

  • hey, that's not too bad, it could be worse as in the Tocoma Narrows bridge, ya could sneeze on that thing and watch it flop all over the place.

  • You could actually see the roaddeck of the bridge swaying due to the cables shaking!!!

  • @mailforward4me You can't even spell the name correctly... check it out..

    it is spelled MACKINAC BRIDGE.....................
