a video of my upcoming installation based project, 8BITAR HERO.

read about it here: http://www.insignificantstudios.com/8bitarhero/

it basically takes the audio from NES emulation and turns it into a rockband/guitar hero style game.

this video is a short demonstration of it. i'm playing it by myself so i can't play multiple tracks at the same time, but the first section has me playing the first square channel (which is usually used for leads), and after i move around in the emulator (just to show off that it's done in realtime.), i play the triangle channel (usually used for bass) during the mario death song.

sorry for the quality!

  • Wait wait wait, one person plays and the other plays the music or something? Aw sheez, I won't be able to play it by myself with satisfaction ;(

  • well, you can have the emulator play an NSF file, and you can also record gameplay using the emulator's movie recorder and play it back.

  • Does it work with a rockband guitar?

  • yep. the rockband guitar is really nothing more than an xbox controller, so you can just download drivers for it.

  • link in the descripiton doesn't work

  • Do bubble bobble main theme next

  • can anyone download this because i want it

  • I can only imagine Tim Follin's music would be nigh-on impossible.

  • how the heck!?!?!

it has to buffer the emulation, and delay what it's showing to the people playing.... right?

  • well as so many people think this is something speacil, you must be very crap at what you do.

  • He said he works on The Underside in his spare time. If he wants to make something else, then he can. Working on something all the time ruins some of the fun in making it. I'm sure many people will agree that it's fun to try something a little different from time to time.

What I just said applies to a lot of people. not just him.

  • Ofcourse, that's why I said 'please', is that your whole argument?

  • he can do what he very well damn wants to! if he wants to make this, you have no say in the matter!
