The Beast of Revelation (13 of 25) The Mark of the Beast?

Question:- What's the "Mark of the Beast"? Isn't it at all curious to you that for the first time in human history -- with microchips, retinal scanners, a growing one-world economy -- that the technology exists to make the "Mark of the Beast" a reality?

(1) It is no more a literal mark than the mark of the Lamb in the next few verses (14:1).

(2) Such a mark is a metaphor for dominion and control. In Rev 13 no one may buy or sell without the mark.

(3) The beast who imposes it has divine pretensions, forcing his worship on the world (13:4, 8). This speaks of emperor worship by Nero Caesar.

(4) This very OT oriented book is using the mark on the right hand and forehead as a negative reflection on God's requiring his Law on his people (Dt 6:8).

(5) Any present day mark goes against John's time-frame (near), relevance (persecuted churches), and theme (judgment of Israel).

This is the biggest roadblock I have with Gentry's exegesis on this issue.

Theosophical secret societies ( secular humanist) seem to be following the dispensationalist eschatology in their desire for one world governance under an anti-christ. the $64.00 question is why?

@jcr4runner without question, taken the biblical text in it's form, the mark is a financial system and that all will be subservient to it. What is interesting is that is says "ALL" meaning everyone. Gentry is suffers some very fundamental problems from the onset, like replacing "hill" with "mountains", and if ROME is what is meant, then why not just sa ROME? God shold not be so vague.

I can't wait until people start getting past the "voo-doo" and start using scipture to interpret scripture. Seriously, people throw away basic reading skills just so they can come up with some eerie little theory. I know that "spooky" sells but the fact is that most people in the Church believe in a eschatalogical concept that is less than 200 years old!?!?! That should bother anyone who loves the Word of God!

buy or sell, to do with money, just like Solomon's 666 pieces of gold, and everyone is buying gold now -

James 5:3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.
