I hear that Fred's house and back yard (with it's mineshaft and other assorted engineering features) is now a heritage centre - is this true? Wonderful news if it is, he'd be chuffed to know it was not all in vain.
There are few men in the world like Fred. Those of us that feel we were born in the wrong century relate to Fred, and see a man we would have loved to know.
Thanks for the postings. I have been trying to collect all of the films the BBC did on Fred.
Thanks a lot for posting this series. It really is very much appreciated. I'm a big fan of Fred Dibnah and have been ever since I saw that first documentary.
I must have only been about ten years old but it blew my mind that someone could be that brave and climb chimneys with no fear.
