The Internet changes every second... saying we're on version 2 is stupid. I suspect some journalist somewhere thought they were clever and things just went too far. Yeah, things are improving and evolving, and new stuff has come out, but to say "Oh, we've reached 2.0" is STUPID. It is ALWAYS changing.
Phew, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that this explained nothing. lol
It sounds to me that Web 2.0 is a buzzword for a new style of applications. NOTHING seems changed or even added to the web INFRASTRUCTURE itself, just some of the information being transferred on it, which is confusing people and causing frustration. Does that sound about right? I'll need to see if I can find a better description of what this is, but it seems like a pretty dumb term so far.
Basically, it's just about the way the web technologies are used, and for what purpose. That's where the difference between Web 2.0 and Web 1.0 is.
I agree on that Web 2.0 is just a term to describe a new "era" of the web technologies, where it's more about the richer experience and user involvement. In a summary, that is how I see it.
