yikes! I was hoping that was earlier in the spring given the way some of those days looked. We are headed in May so apparently some warm clothing is going to be mandatory

Bring lots of warm clothing :) We were unlucky because regardless of the few cold, rainy days we had, there was a fire ban in effect because on the other side of the mountains it was hot and extremely dry. The week before we were up there the temperature was in the 30s Celsius. So expect the unexpected - hope you have a great time!

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! We did the trip over the last week of August 2010. We had all kinds of weather, from baking sunshine to bitterly cold rain, so it didn't exactly feel like summer...
