the original three were petrucci, Myung, and Portnoy. Yes JP did drop out. But Rudess wasn't added to the group until around the time 6 degrees of inner turbulence was recorded.

@MaassMedia Petucci met Myung way, way before he gets into the College. They met each other when they were little. Then, the two Johns met Portnoy in Berklee.

Yes, but he actually dropped out of Berklee College of Music in Boston. That's where he met the drummer and bassist for Dream Theater, Mike Pornoy and John Myung.
