A U64 video article about a Jet Set Radio game for Wii that never made it into development. Exciting stuff. We'd be playing it now if it wasn't for the masterminds of a certain publisher. Crumbs.

Enjoy!

  • @MrFlebotte Way to shoot the messenger:( :(

  • WE WANT: JSR 3, SHENMUE 3, VECTORMAN 3, NIGHTS 3! SEGA NEEDS TO MAKE DREAMCAST 2!!! NO MORE SONIC!!!

  • @orphanbrothers No thanks to the DC 2, yes to everything else.

  • @deadturtleproduction Nintendo never had ANYTHING to do with it. You've just made that up.

  • Sega needs to give sonic a break and focus on stuff that actually would make money...like this.

  • Ah man, what could have been.

  • Jet Set Radio was made in the days when Sega actually made games. These days Sega mostly just publishes. Smilebit no longer exists, Yu Suzuki, Tetsuya Mizaguchi, Yuji Naka, Shun Arai, Hideki Naganuma, Noryoshi Oba have all gone.

  • @hec2006 The problem is Jet Set Radio and Jet Set Radio Future both bombed; hardly anyone bought them. Another problem is that Smilebit disbanded long ago, and many of the people who made JSR have left Sega (in fact many of them now work at Nintendo). Hideki Naganuma has left Sega and no longer works in the games industry.

  • god damnit

  • @dbzispimpin They're the same game. You're thinking of Jet Set Radio Future, the XBox sequel to the original Jet Set Radio, which was called Jet Grind Radio in some regions.

I haven't played the original JSR, but I agree that the turbo system is JSRF is kind of dumb. And some (but not most) of the music is junk. (Mostly, the stuff that's on the OST is the good stuff. Hideki Naganuma ftw.)

  • Then bastards.

  • I didn't like Jet "SET" Radio as much as Jet "GRIND" Radio(I guess part 1 on the DC) I want a Jet Grind Radio Sequel!!! Forget "Jet Set", it was too crazy and I didn't like the music, art or the fact that they removed the ability to turbo whenever you wanted with a simple cool off period and forced you to collect cans of spray in order to get one simple boost of turbo for a single limited time and then skate at normal speed for the rest of the time until you got more spray...

  • @deadturtleproduction Sega. It was Sega who turned it down. Sega released the other games, but did not make them. Personally I think Sega dislikes Nintendo. *GASP* Seriously though, the only games they would release on anything but Playstation or maybe Xbox now is probably for the NDS/N3DS.
