In this short clip I demonstrating two of Gao style basic hand movements.
These two exemples adopted from the Taiwanese branch of Gao style as taught by Luo De Xiu and his students.

In Gao style the Basic hand movements are actually the essence of the system (together with the basic leg drills), but in order to understand their full meaning one must train the whole system (Xian Tian, Huo Tian etc.).

These two basic movements are working on two different important skills:
- The flow and changing of attack
- The flow and controlling our foe.

These can be used only by hands as demonstrated, or with other parts of the body.

Once the principle is undertood by the prectitioner, there are infinite applications of useage.

The demonstarted applications for these moves are the 'big and obvious' applications, in order to deeper our understanding in how to execute these basic skills and moves, one must research the art deeply and with a correct guidence of a good teacher.

  • Good good stuff. I train the Yizong family in denver,co under Marilyn Heidrick she is great and generous. She started under Dr. Brinkman then was introduced to Luo Laoshi. Today is a sad day. Laoshi was here to give a seminar, but had to return home his mother passed away. On a lighter note keep it up I love to learn and see Gao style it is so smooth and very clever.

Of course, I'm a student of one of Luo's first generation students, and also studying from Luo in the past few years during his seminars here.

I'm a prectitioner of both Gao style branchs: the Taiwanese one from Luo De Xiu and the Chinese from Liu Feng Cai.
