  • Im planning to have my surgery in November. Im so dreading it. Im thinking about doing it earlier if I can. How long did it take you, not to run, but to do low impact cardio like the bike or the elpitical? Working out is going to be hard to not do. Also you mentioned you are a cardinals fan. Did you have surgury here in St. Louis or IL? If you had ur surgery in STL where and did the do a good job?

  • @shawnta2002191 I had my surgery done in Decatur, Illinois. I was in my cast for about a month and a half, and it was hard to even walk after the surgery. To do the elliptical, I would say a few weeks to a month for a pain-free workout.

  • @kezzababez1: It was a moderate bunion.

  • I got my bunionectomy on July 15th. How many weeks after your surgery did it take you to begin running again? I am an avid runner and am very worried. What about barefoot basic easy modern dance stuff?

thank you so much if you could answer my question, thanks

  • @AgustRaspete After my surgery I was in a cast for 8 weeks. When I got out of the cast, I had trouble walking and took physical therapy for about 2 months. I would say overall it took about 4 months to start running again.

Since you are an avid runner, I would definitely recommend getting physical therapy and you should be fine! I've hear of many horror stories (especially on the internet) however, mine was not too much pain. I had some days where I could barely walk 1 mile--but you will

  • @AgustRaspete build up to it. I'm not familiar with dancing or barefoot--it may take quite a bit longer for that! Good Luck! :)

  • Why are ppl writing entire paragraphs in comments on bunion videos?! Btw, how did I get here?!

  • Wat would anesthesia would you reccomend having this done undet

  • What would you reccomend a double or having them done seperately, i have to see the doctor about it in a couple of weeks

  • its been 7 weeks since i had my bunion surgery here in the uk ,the second night was the worst after the numbness wore off, i was able to walk on it without crutches after 2 weeks , they didnt put my foot in a cast it was just heavily bandaged to keep stitches clean and keeping infection out, they told me i will be keeping the screws in for good !

ive got to have my other foot operated on in a few months time

  • u got a handy cap sticker!! i want one!!!

  • when they put the knock out meds in me the room went in and out then it was black from there

  • Why were you crying? Is it cause it hurt? How bad was your bunion?

  • @GalwayChick nah they knock you out with general anesthesia. for me, it was like i was laying on the op. table, then after that i remembered nothing else, and then i woke up in the recovery dept. it was weird. and as you said, you've had bunions since 9 years of age, then the procedure that i would recommend for you is the lapidus bunionectomy procedure. with this procedure, they put 2 metal screws at the bottom of the metatarsal bone, which corrects everything with the bunion for life.
