Military officials are investigating the reported deaths of at least six civilians, all members of the same family, in an airstrike in Afghanistan. As U.S. forces try to contain the Taliban, civilian casualties have infuriated many ordinary Afghans. The issue was addressed on Thursday by the U.S. commander in Afghanistan, General Stanley McChrystal, who said We must protect the Afghan people from all threats — from the enemy and from our own actions.
McChrystal has also recommended up to 40,000 additional troops for Afghanistan. That recommendation is being considered by U.S. President Barack Obama, who held a three-hour meeting Wednesday night on Afghanistan with key members of his national security team, some of whom are divided on the troop issue.
Alex Their, the director of the Future of Afghanistan Project at the United States Institute of Peace, joins Martin Savidge to discuss the administrations options.

ihavtugo....Obama made a decision to run for prez. He knew what he was getting himself into.
If things get worse for him, so be it. A leader cannot stall on military decisions.,either he surges forward , or retreats. He cant stall and say, ill think about it, or I want to make sure i get it right....soldiers are dying while he is waiting.. to make a decision.. That shows
incompetence

Reconstruction in Afghanistan is the only way to win.

Just let the UN and NATO handle it. That way Obama won't have to do anything but rally his people for change.

nobody forces a soldier to join.
They know what their getting themselves into. If they die then so be it. Yes it's very sad. But that is war.

Obama has no dog in this fight. Those who have a devil dog in this fight will not be happy with his foot dragging. Their sons and daughters are at a higher risk without some action from him. SOON. Even if he decides to pull completely out he would at least temporarily save some young soldiers life.
