Sick rat loss of balance

my rat lemiwinks has gotten i'll very rapidly over the past few days. My rat is a female and is about a year old. almost everyday i will open my rats cage and leave it open so she can freely come out and explore a bit. I could leave her unattended for a couple hours n she would always stay near or in her cage. About 4-5 days ago i noticed she was having a hard time climbing out of the cage, kinda stumbling n missing the rungs of the cage, sometimes falling off. I also noticed she was walking with her head tilted slightly. she also had red stuff on her forearms, which i thought usually came from the eyes... perhaps she rubbed her eyes or something.. over the next couple days her climbing got worse very quickly to the point where she cannot climb without falling. yesterday when i brought her veggies she stood up on her back feet to grab the food and falls over. made me very sad to see her in this condition and i had to move her cage out of my bedroom and into another room so i wasnt watching it suffer.. when i came home from work today to check on her i tapped on her cage which usually makes her come out of her house but she wouldnt come out.. so i banged on her house and picked up the house and shook it and she didnt move i thought she was dead n left the room... then came back a few minutes later and she was out walking around very unbalanced stumbling around everywhere like she is drunk.

It's a moot point now, I'm sure, but it looked more like a stroke to me than a loss of balance. The weakness and favoring one side over the other is more consistent with that. With a loss of balance, there would be a wobbling, jerky motion of the head as it tried to walk, but all it really did was just go very slowly and carefully.

As for the haters, they're almost all the same tiny, insignificant and utterly worthless person. Disregard. ;-)

@ZachariasLePuertre yea... the rat got sick for whatever reason.. I researched the possible causes of the symptoms, and they all pointed to some sort of cancer or tumor in the brain. Stroke could be a possibility as well. None of those problems would not be fixable by throwing money at a vet. I chose to let nature run its course. I'm surprised s many people take offense to it... maybe it's how I worded things... so I'll say it in a better way this time... SUCK MY COCK!

@Slappy2112 The rat is clearly sick with what appears to be an ear infection meaning you either pay the $20 for antibiotics or you have him put to sleep. That's what being a pet owner is. Taking care of your animals, not locking them up and neglecting them. I don't hold animals above humans, I just can't understand why people like this even have pets if they don't want to care for them properly.

Looks like a stroke. My girl has the same thing. I thought it was an ear infection at first, but it turned out to be a stroke. poor thing, I hope your girl gets better.

Instead of leaving her in a room so that you didn't have to watch her suffer could you not have had the decency to take her to the vet and put her to sleep if you knew she wasn't gong to survive.

And if you can't afford to do that then you really shouldn't have animal.
