A quick walk around the garden, before the tulips fade after a few days of HOT summer weather in April.

The banana plants from last year are at the end of the video. The large red banana plant was stored in the basement. The small basement windows allowed in enough light for the plant to have some growth over the winter. The other potted banana plant is a blood leaf banana that was kept in bright light all winter with small amounts of water.

  • Arthur! You're back! What lovely flowers. Do those just come back every year? I need to try planting those sorts of flowers, though I doubt they would survive the heat here. JUST BEAUTIFUL! Are those bleeding hearts at around 1:32?

There's our banana trees! They do so well. I think my bananas should be ripening by the end of next month.

  • Most of the tulips come back for 3 or 4 years than fade away, some come back strong every year.

I think you would have to keep tulip bulbs in cold storage to grow them in Hawaii.

Yes, bleeding hearts. They come back, and get so much bigger every year.

  • It's so good to see your garden again and knowing you are back! :-) Are you going to plant the banana plants again? You mentioned they had some growth, but looks like a LOT of growth to me. Could just seem that way to me...:-) Great having you posting again! Missed you being around! Now...let's have a nice refreshing drink, shall we?? :-)

    *hugs*

  • Yeah, a LOT of growth is more like it! I never watered it over the winter, so I guess the root had enough reserves.

I'll plant the bananas sometime this week and take pictures if not a video.

I've already had a few mojitos with the new growth of mint from the yard. I'll save some for you!

  • Hi, I live in Hawaii and I must admit your garden is the most beautiful garden I have ever seen coming from the East coast. You must work very hard at it. I grow orchids. They are my favorite flower and I just can't get enough of them. Do you think you can make a video with orchids or tropical flowers?

  • All I have to say is beautiful, beautiful, and beautiful.

  • nice!

  • That was a delight! Luv the old worn white painted brick and architectural details, too. Ahh, the memories of lilac and hyacinth scents linger......but the peonies are coming soon! Thx for the lovely tour :)
