Kang--Seok Lee of Korea sets the 500m world record! March 9th, 2007. Commentary on the video is by Ryan Shimabukuro, US national sprint team coach, who coached Tucker Fredericks, the USA skater in the opposite lane.

    I can tell you 100% that Tucker and all the US athletes have tremendous respect for the Asian skaters. The Koreans are incredible, and many Japanese athletes train with the US sprint team. Joji Kato & Tucker are close friends.

    The reason that most of the comments are about Tucker, is that this is a sport you do "in your own lane", and it's really self-analysis.

    All an athlete can control in long track is their own effort, that is a great difference from short track.
