This would have been a good opportunity to become a founding member of the mile high club. We could break for a commercial for Nabisco cookies.
The show could be renamed "Sky High".

My Dad was pioneer Army Air Corps flight mechanic "Smitty" Charlie Smith...and he and friends always had fun with planes. Later his hands made the gold foil you see on the Lunar Landing Module - Sky King captured our family in heartbeat! Clean and fresh and celebrating the triumph of flight and introducing the idea that anyone might learn to fly and own a plane. Neat! Thanks for this post!

with 13,300 hours logged, Boeing 757, 767, 737, MD80, Airbus 320-321, and CRJ's .. and a bunch of light aircraft ... my favorite was the Cessna 310 .. the big and more powerful brother to Sky King's Rocket. I love general aviation ..

Shows like this, along with REAL cartoons like Bugs Bunny, Woody Woodpecker, the original Mighty Mouse, etc., were what made Saturday morning TV really fun! This is way better than the garbage that passes for TV today. Thanks for posting.

Interesting article if you search Cessna 310B - this plane crashed six wks after filming in 1957, killing the pilot. A second 310 with altered tail # (to match the opening sequence) was flown thereafter & resold several times as the original plane!
